These days it seems that all the talk is about the stimulus bill. Will the Senate pass its version? Will the House be swayed to agree with the Senate? But isn't the real question: will the stimulus bill help you and your business?
At the World of Concrete show in Las Vegas last week, the trade associations representing contractors were actively promoting the passage of the stimulus bill. At the Portland Cement Association (PCA) press conference, Ed Sullivan, PCA chief economist, said, "Right now, it’s important for [the] construction [industry] to get the government to lead us out of this.”
As a contractor, do you agree with this statement? If you believe the stimulus bill should be passed, how do you think it will aid your business?

The bill will not help my business, however it will hinder my young children (1.5 yrs, and 3 yrs) and their children for the rest of their lives. Let the legitamate companies struggle through this (if possible and I will take my chances) and don't pass on debt to future generations. I refuse to raise my children with their hand out (which is the easy way and the way USA is leaning).

Although the idea of a stimulus is a good one, less than 5% of this bogus, Trojan Horse of a stimulus bill actually will go towards rebuilding our country's infrastructure. The great majority of the bill will go towards nothing more than expanding the size of government. More people will continue to allow themselves to be bought off by their own money and unfortunately, our kids and grand kids are going to be the one's left holding the bag.

So far all I am hearing is ideological whining and no counter solutions. There is a hole in the boat and we are sinking. Should we sit here on our laurens and complain about the size of the stopper or should we get behind the effort to do SOMETHING! The stimulus is going to help me and any contractors I have spoken with. No one knows the long term effects and I agree at some point this country is needing a new direction. I least Rome has put down the fiddle and somebody is doing something.
