Lately, I’ve been spending a lot of time combing through the results of the 2011 Machine Control Report, conducted by Clear Seas Research in partnership with Site Prep, as I was putting together the magazine’s May/June issue.

I don’t want to reveal too much about the report—you’ll have to wait till next month to see it in print and online—but let me just say, I found the results of the fourth annual study to be packed full of interesting data. I believe it shows that our industry is continuing to see the importance of machine control technology—in fact, 100 percent of respondents do or plan to purchase, use, specify and/or recommend machine control, according to the report.

Other results from the report detail current machine control usage, machines users plan to equip with the technology, positioning equipment respondents plan to use, as well as the average amount respondents say they plan to invest in machine control technology in 2011. I have to say, it is exciting to see growth in this area, despite the fact that the construction industry is coming off some of its most difficult economic times in the past few years.

Don’t forget to come back to siteprepmag.com next month to check out the report! Once you do, I’d love to hear your feedback on it—send your thoughts to scallyk@bnpmedia.com or comment online.
