Perfect Father’s Day Gift Ideas for the Construction Pro
by Ron Kubitz

Father’s Day is quickly approaching, and I am besieged daily by inquiries from the wife and kids as to what I would like to receive for this most sacred of holidays. So it got me thinking that I may as well help all the readers, my construction brethren, out with gift ideas that can be purchased by their loved ones.
Here are a few construction-related ideas for Father’s Day that are all available on the Internet.
- Nothing says Father’s Day like a “Hammer Flask”—a usable hammer that masquerades as a holder for your favorite beverage (nonalcoholic, of course). What a great way to both work and refresh yourself on these hot summer days!
- “Barbed Wire Toilet Paper” makes a great addition to any construction site portable toilet. It may even be a softer alternative than what you are presently using!
- High on my list is an “Egyptian Sarcophagus Replica.” Nothing says jobsite fun more than watching in amazement as your excavator digs up this life-size mummy that you, of course, had planted.
- Need a new bumper sticker for the company truck? How about one that says “My road to success is under construction.”
- As we all know, construction workers are a messy lot and often wolf down lunch in a variety of unfriendly settings. So it makes sense that an “Eat and Sleep Construction” bib would be most welcome.
- For those into art, there is an excellent drawing/cartoon available that states “If your senator had clout, this would be a $50,000,000 construction project, not a $500,000 one.”
Of course I could go on, as there are construction puppets, teddy bears, candy, etc. However, I ask you, dear readers, what are some of your favorite construction-related gifts (Father’s Day or other) that you have received or given?
Happy Father’s Day!

Thanks for the laughs and the good read to start my day!
One year my kids got me Lego construction candy! You could actually build small things with the candy and then of course eat what you built!

Funny but i received the bib a few years back due to my sloppy (perceived) eating habits.
Also recieved a mousepad that read "instant construction worker...just add coffee".
Good stuff thanks for sharing!

The best fathers day gifts for me:
1. Less bid pressure for my company
2. Federal funding for transportation
3. Lower fuel prices
4. New government
Sorry to ruin the fun piece with these serious comments more in tune with your last well written blog entry Ron. Good work !

Fathers Day come and gone and I have one now to add to the list. Got the bib along with a construction plate/silverware set. Has a bulldozer pusher, fork lift, and front loader spoon.Nice construction plates make the deal complete.
