Don’t let the title of this blog fool you— it is not about what you think! This piece is not about the state of the construction industry (I’ve already touched on that issue), but it is about one of my favorite television viewing pleasures, the syndicated television game/quiz show “Jeopardy!”

Since it’s back to school time, I felt that it was appropriate to challenge each of you with a construction “Jeopardy!” quiz. As per the “Jeopardy!” format, the answers are listed first and your task is to come up with the correct question. Once you’re done, see if you got it right by clicking here. Post in the comments below to let us know how much of a whiz you are!

The answers are:

1. It is the world record for “personal continuous furthest driving with the world’s smallest excavator.”

2. 18,000 cubic yards of dirt were removed at the Charlotte Motor Speedway to construct this structure.

3. This island nation leads the industrial world in using geothermal power to melt the ice blocking its highways.

4. Not the fastest grocery clerk, but the name of the largest piece of digging machinery in the world.

5. Evidence of the usage of this piece of construction equipment, not a wrestling move, originated more than 5,000 years ago.

6. Recognized as the only two degreed engineers to become president.

7. At 1,178 miles, this is far and away the world’s longest street.

8. Cave-ins, fire, falls and asphyxiation are top hazards for this type of construction.

9. This meaty character in the movie “The Sandlot” instructs is on how to properly construct a smore.

10. Ouch … Elaine Davidson holds the record for having more than 7,000 of these.
