Start Us Up USA! Holds Fourth Rally for Construction Recovery
On
Jan. 20, construction equipment industry leaders and other transportation
advocates held a rally in San Antonio, Texas, to focus public attention on the
economic depression in the equipment industry and to encourage support for a
new multi-year highway bill and other recovery legislation.
The rally was the fourth in the national Start Us Up USA! campaign led by the
Associated Equipment Distributors and the Association of Equipment
Manufacturers. Last year, rallies were held in Las Vegas,
Chicago and Washington, D.C.
The San Antonio rally was held in conjunction with AED’s 2010 Summit Convention
and CONDEX trade show.
Following the rally, a caravan of trucks carrying large pieces of construction
equipment idled by the industry depression made its way through the streets of
downtown San Antonio. For more information about the campaign and to see video
footage of the rallies, visit
