According to Tony Vanneman, construction products marketing manager for Topcon, “There’s nothing like sitting in the seat of 3D-MC2 dozer.” Topcon’s 3D-MC2 system relies on all the usual components of an automatic GPS system--GPS antenna, receiver, control box and base station--plus one more: the new 3D-MC2 sensor. The 3D-MC2 sensor is mounted to the blade and houses seven measurement devices that track the position of the cutting edge to eliminate the traditional lag associated with GPS positioning. This allows a dozer outfitted with 3D-MC2 technology to be operated at a higher speed while maintaining an accurate grade.
