The U.S. Army isn’t just recruiting soldiers—it’s also recruiting construction equipment.

Case Construction Equipment is in the middle of a five-year contract with the Army to supply more than 600 armored and armor-ready backhoe loaders. In January, the military placed an order for an additional 150 units.

Case designed the Army’s backhoe loader with a modular cab that has two sets of exterior panels, light and armored. Depending on the threat environment operators are working in, they can remove the light exterior panels and replace them with armored panels.

This fleet of construction equipment is being deployed to support troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, Southwest Asia and other military installations around the globe.
