OCregister: A construction company might lose out on a lucrative contract to expand John Wayne Airport's terminal because of a paperwork error.
The firm, Whiting-Turner, submitted an $89 million bid on the airport project, then quickly said it had transposed its numbers and intended to bid $98 million. Itemized costs submitted with the bid confirm that the larger figure is correct.
Either way, Whiting-Turner was the low bidder; its next-closest competitor, McCarthy Building Cos., had a nearly $101 million offer.
