Ashland
Ashland CS18-HD 18-yd3 carry-all scrapers tackle the toughest applications and material types. 23.5 x 25 E3/L3 12-ply tires and lower ground pressure allow for excellent flotation, and lift cylinders are mounted higher to keep dirt and rocks out. To prevent any buildup and dragging of loose material by the front section, its massive 16" diameter and 7/8" thick front pipe is elevated to allow a 22" ground clearance. The CS18-HD includes a heavier-duty framework, larger pins and cylinders, and massive trailing arms for optimum strength and durability. ( www.ashlandind.com )
Caterpillar
Caterpillar offers an extensive line of self-propelled scrapers and has now added towed scrapers. A wide range of wheel tractor-scraper sizes and configurations enables contractors to match the machine to the job, and the towed scrapers offer good capabilities in soft underfoot conditions. Cat's newest elevating scraper is the 613G, the smallest of the three self-loading scrapers at 11 yd3. Five models of open-bowl scrapers range in capacity from 22 to 44 yd3, three of which are tandem powered for rapid acceleration and the ability to handle significant grades. ( www.cat.com )
