How you started in construction: “I grew up in the industry. My dad owned a logging and trucking business and did a little bit of excavation.”
What keeps you going in your job: “That we’ve built some good relationships over the past years. We’ve been in business 28 years, and because of the longevity of our company, we have some good relationships. It’s put us in a better position to pick and choose our clientele. … We have developed relationships with companies in other states. We’re looking for new horizons and will be heading in a different direction. We’ll probably keep a presence here but our focus is going to be down south.”
What grinds you: “Times have changed so much. There’s more bureaucracy and less cooperation with government agencies. Before, things could be done on a handshake. And now it’s more about dotting the i’s and crossing the t's."
Personal philosophy: “Do what you say and say what you do.”
Favorite equipment you use in your job: “Dozers.”
Why it’s your favorite: “You know you get to see the finished product when you’re done.”
Advice for contractors new to the business: “Build your company on honesty and professionalism.”
