Ashland Industries introduced the CS18-HD heavy-duty earthmover, an 18-yd3-capacity carry-all scraper that weighs in at nearly 25,000 lb. Ideal for use with high horsepower (325+) rubber-tracked or wheeled tractors, the CS18-HD maximizes its power unit by transferring a portion of the weight for greater traction. Its standard 23.5 x 25 E3/L3 12-ply tires, lower ground pressure, and longer rolling radius allow excellent flotation and operational ease. (www.ashlandind.com)

Bell

Bell’s extremely fuel-efficient M3338 motorized scraper features a gooseneck ball hitch design that allows for 50/50 weight distribution, push loading and a turning radius of 24 ft. The complete unit can be transported on a single 50-ft trailer. It has a heaped/struck capacity of 38/33 yd³. (www.ued.us.com)

Caterpillar

SP0509Equipment-Cat-propelled.jpg
Caterpillar offers an extensive line of self-propelled scrapers and towed scrapers. A wide range of wheel tractor-scraper sizes and configurations enables contractors to match the machine to the job, and the towed scrapers offer good capabilities in soft underfoot conditions. Cat’s newest elevating scraper is the 613G, the smallest of the three self-loading scrapers at 11 yd3. Five models of open-bowl scrapers range in capacity from 22 to 44 yd3. (www.cat.com)

Double D Mfg.

Hoelscher’s GR series of pull-type graders is ideal for building and maintaining roads, driveways and alleys. The pull-type design offers superior blade stability and gives the operator complete visibility of the cutting edge. Power tilt allows for on-the-go adjustment of the moldboard, giving the operator complete control of the desired grade profile. Blade height is maintained by the tractor’s 3-point hitch. Optional spill guards on both ends of the moldboard are adjustable. (www.hoelscherinc.com)

Humdinger

SP0509Equipment-Humdinger.jpg
The Humdinger 619G scraper’s biggest selling feature is the throat opening for dealing with sticky material. The 619G has an ejector to push sticky material out of the machine because every environment has different soil. Its axles and rear end design, coupled with its 6-in and 8-in steel ball hitch configurations, allow push loading in some of the most difficult jobs. Side rails and additional modifications can be installed on the machines. (www.humdingerequipment.com)

The K-Tec 1233 ADT is designed for self-loading with a 40-ton, 400+ hp rock truck. It features a heaped capacity of 33 yd3, fast hydraulics, a smooth ride and joystick scraper control. It also takes advantage of K-Tec’s LOAD TEC ADT series optimal weight distribution system. The unique gooseneck hitch pole with quick-attach hook transfers 30% of the scraper’s load weight directly to the point where the truck is designed to carry weight. With a 6-wheel drive ADT, the 1233 ADT offers more power to the ground and a functional rock truck for a contractor’s fleet. (www.ktecearthmovers.com)
