Grand Rapids, MN – June 16, 2008. ASV recently unveiled its new PT-100 Forestry compact track loader, a special version of ASV’s largest compact track loader that comes fully outfitted for demanding environments, such as forestry applications. This rugged new machine offers exceptional performance, and includes a comprehensive set of integrated standard features not found on any other machine in its class.

Ready to tackle tough forestry situations, the new PT-100 Forestry loader builds on the success of the industry-leading ASV PT-100 Compact Track Loader.  New standard features on the PT-100 Forestry loader include an all-new sealed and pressurized cab, large dual pressurization filters, a high-performance air conditioner and heater, and full forestry guarding. Complementing these standard features is ASV’s patented Posi-Track undercarriage technology.  This machine complies with the applicable operator protection standards for forestry applications of this type machine. See brief specifications for details.

Designed to work hard in even the most severe conditions, the PT-100 Forestry loader uses a unique new auto-reversing fan to keep the machine’s cooling system running at peak performance.  Requiring less downtime for cleaning away debris, the PT-100 Forestry loader uses a pneumatic pump to periodically change the pitch of the fan blades, reversing air flow.  Debris that collects on the hood screens radiator is purged, greatly extending the time between radiator cleanings. The auto-reversing fan triggers at set intervals, but can also be engaged “on demand” by the operator at any time.  Also standard is a screened engine pre-cleaner, and heavy duty skid-plates, which are hinged to allow access for cleaning out debris and other routine machine maintenance.

The PT-100’s cooling system includes a highly efficient side-by-side radiator/hydraulic oil cooler with the capacity to keep the machine and hydraulic attachment running cool, even under severe loads in hot, humid climates.

Powerful, maneuverable and built to work in rugged environments over long hours, the PT-100 Forestry loader comes equipped with a comprehensive set of guarding equipment, including a heavy-duty polycarbonate door with a wiper, steel hood, rear brush guard and limb-risers.

On the PT-100 Forestry loader, ASV’s patented Posi-Track undercarriage includes rugged tapered bearings with metal face seals on all wheels. Independent torsion axle suspension and 18-inch (457 mm) wide rubber tracks maximize traction and flotation in soft underfoot conditions. With 42 wheels to spread the machine’s weight over the length and width of the tracks, the PT-100 Forestry loader has a ground pressure of only 4.37 psi (30.1 kPa). This gives the machine incredible traction and flotation that has been the hallmark of all ASV machines for more than 25 years.

With a 99.9 horsepower (74.5 kW) Perkins diesel engine and 306 ft/lb (415 Nm) of torque, the PT-100 Forestry loader can breeze through demanding high-production jobs. It also uses 40 gpm (151 lpm), 3,650 psi (25 165 kPa) auxiliary hydraulics with an advanced load-sensing system that produces about 15 to 30 percent more hydraulic power than other competing systems.

Operating the machine is easy, with pilot operated joysticks that provide low-effort and precise control of the machine’s speed, direction and attachments.  A suspension seat, high-performance climate control system and sound insulation keep the operator comfortable all day long.  Large window openings on the sides, front and rear, plus an overhead window, provide the operator with excellent visibility to attachments and surroundings. In addition, the new dash panel includes a full set of gauges, switches and space to mount customer supplied extras, such as GPS or audio units.

To minimize the time needed for maintenance, the PT-100 Forestry loader offers quick, easy access to all major service areas. Access to the engine compartment, for example,  is through a new lift-up guard and engine hood, both of which swing up in the same direction for exceptional entry to the engine and cooling package.  Another hinged guard quickly drops away to give quick access to the machine’s air conditioner and heater system. Two large and easy-to-access air filters are located near the top of the cab, keeping them away from much of the dust and debris generated when brushcutting; this also makes them accessible for periodic cleaning. Belly-pan guards that protect the underside of the machine also swing open easily for clean-out.

When combined with the purpose-built optional ASV HD7460B mulcher attachment or a rotary-type brush cutter, the PT-100 Forestry loader has all the key ingredients of a highly efficient vegetation management system. Outfitted with virtually any other industry attachment, the PT-100 Forestry loader is ideal for right-of-way maintenance, pipelines and utilities, forest management, fire abatement and for many applications by private land owners.

The PT-100 Forestry loader is the latest entry in ASV’s comprehensive line of PT Series Compact Track Loaders, available through its network of ASV dealerships in North America and Australia.  For more information about the ASV PT-100 Forestry loader, to review complete specifications or locate the ASV dealer nearest you, visit www.asvi.com.
